15th September 2018 was World Clean Up Day and Clean Up Jakarta Day 2018 . A group of AIS teachers, students and their parents met early Saturday morning to help clean up the local streets around our school. It was great to be part of the international event - Indonesia had the most volunteers in the world, with over 5.6 million volunteers from the 34 provinces that took part. In two hours, we picked up many sacks of rubbish with all sorts of recyclable and non-recyclable things sorted into sacks. It was great to hear the discussion amongst the students and their families about what could be recycled and what was non-recyclable. We found some interesting items such as old car tyres, bottles, old broken shoes, laminated paper and lots of cigarette butts.
