Dear Parents and Friends,
I hope your week has been a productive one and that you, your friends and families are all well.
It has been a particularly busy week at AIS Pejaten with several programmes running on top of our regular classes. First, our Year 12 students commenced their Mock Exams on Wednesday – all in online mode. These will continue tomorrow and next Monday and Tuesday. We certainly wish all the Year 12 students well for their exams and as they finalise their IA submissions. Thanks again to Mr. Inga and all the teachers who have made these online exams possible. The added complexity of providing a platform for online exams while still maintaining the integrity of both the process and the results was a new challenge, but one which everyone worked hard to overcome. Well done.
In lieu of the Year 10 Work Experience programme which was cancelled due to COVID-19, this week students participated in a weeklong series of workshops and presentations on Courses, Colleges and Careers. The students impressed me with their commitment and interest in the tasks we undertook. We even participated in a virtual University Fair coordinated by CIS and attended by over 200 universities from around the world. We will provide an update in next week’s Bytes with some reflections and feedback. My thanks to Ms. Mary, Ms. Retha and all the teachers who presented on Senior Programme courses throughout the week, and of course the students for their open-mindedness and curiosity.
Next week we will finish Term 3 with a Virtual High School Assembly commencing at around 2:30 PM. Further details will be shared during the week with necessary links. Here, we will announce the Best Effort, Outstanding Achievement and IB Leaner Profile Certificates for each year level, as well as say good bye to those who might be leaving AIS and Jakarta.
We wish you a good weekend ahead – stay safe and keep well.
Yours in education,
Henri Bemelmans
